Little Surprises

So I'm trying to be a grown-up right now and decide what I'm going to do with my future.  I made the decision about two weeks ago to pursue a masters degree in Toxicology, so that's exciting.  I'm actually surprised that the decision was so easy.  I talked with the department head, and the way she described the program sounded so great, I couldn't say no.  So in the spirit of surprises, here's a list of things that have surprised me lately:

Good Things
  • I miraculously got all A's this semester
  • I'm done with my Christmas shopping
  • Patrick got me a Kindle
  • I finished some creative Christmas presents I didn't think I would
  • I actually went out with friends other than Patrick the other night
  • I forgot and then reexperienced the humor of King of the Hill
  • I stayed up for the winter solstice lunar eclipse
  • I teared up while watching the Colorado Ballet's production of the Nutcracker
Not So Good Things
  • I'm poor
  • I need to scrounge up $50 for the graduate school application fee
  • I was told to tell customers to call "Omaba's staff" about their complaints by my uncaring boss
  • I work almost every day for the next two weeks
  • All my friends are in their various hometowns and not in the Fort
  • I hate "finance charges" on my credit card, they negate the payments I make, dammit
  • My apartment is humid and I don't know why
  • It's December and we have yet to witness a substantial snow storm
Don't you relish all the surprises in your life?
